Emilia Monika Ziobrowska & Shiloh Douglas Judd’s first competitive season in photos

For the first time in the history, Romania had an ice dance team at Europeans: Emilia Monika Ziobrowska and Shiloh Douglas Judd travelled to Tallinn, Estonia, this January, finishing the competition on the 26th place. Qualifying and then skating at a major ISU Championships was, no doubt, the highlight of their season.

Now that you know Emilia and Shiloh, and understand their partnership is such an important, decisive step for the Romanian figure skating as a whole, we invite you to see exactly how their season went.

Remember: this was Emilia Monika Ziobrowska and Shiloh Douglas Judd’s first competitive season – the team took part in 2024 EduSport Trophy, 2025 Sofia Trophy, 2025 Europeans and 2025 Egna Dance Trophy, finishing 4th in Romania, 8th in Bulgaria, 26th in Estonia and 8th again in Italy.

We photo-documented 3 out of those 4 events and we invite you to relive their journey & grasp the meaning of it through our photos. After all, it’s not every day that Romania gets to be represented in ice dance internationally – it never happened, on senior level, in the last 100 years.

Personality-wise, “they’re not loud, they’re not very outgoing, they’re introverted, but not when they skate. Not when they skate”, their coach Elena Novak said about her students in an interview for Inside Skating, and these photos taken in Tallinn are the very embodiment of the coach’s words. Just look at them, look at Emilia and Shiloh performing their rhythm dance in their most important competition of their career so far. First time at Europeans? You wouldn’t say!

From Tallinn, Emilia and Shiloh travelled to Egna, in Italy, performing once again their programs and hoping to get the points needed to qualify for Worlds in Boston. It was going to be hard, and they’re a brand new team, they knew it, but put all energy, performing skills in action. It was also the competition they enjoyed the most – the photos from Egna speak for themselves.

Music by The Irrepressibles has been a beautiful companion to Emilia and Shiloh in the first free dance of their career. A word to describe it, to describe them? Luminous.

They wouldn’t get the minimum TES for Worlds, but they would assess the season exactly as it was: a success, a learning experience, only the first step of their journey. “Egna Dance Trophy 2025 was a huge success for us and what a great way to end our competitive season! We are so proud of our progress as we feel like we are improving as skaters and as a team at every competition. We would like thank the amazing coaches at WISA for the many achievements throughout this season. Of course we would also like to thank Luiz Taifas for always supporting us”. Beautifully surrounded by so many people this season, Emilia and Shiloh look forward to their journey – and so do we.
